Knock, Knock, Who's There?

"A belief is nothing more than a chronic pattern of thought, and you have the ability—if you try even a little bit—to begin a new pattern, to tell a new story, to achieve a different vibration, to change your point of attraction. The Law of Attraction is responding to your vibration, and you can easily change your vibrational point of attraction by visualizing the lifestyle you desire and holding your attention upon those images until you begin to feel relief, which will indicate that a true vibrational shift has occurred."

Above is a picture of the front door of a home I would someday love to own. Often, as I drift off to sleep, I imagine myself on the front porch. I peer in through the glass window on the front door and see the graceful staircase leading to the second floor. I quietly open the door and make my way inside.

Off to the right is a beautiful living room. It has incredible morning light streaming through the tall windows, gleaming off the polished hardwood floors. The home is over a hundred years old. Still, it's been updated beautifully—no old stuffy wallpaper or heavy drapes adorning the windows. The furniture is tasteful transitional, leather seating, with antique end tables.

In my mind, I have redecorated this room over and over again until it's perfect. I wander throughout the rooms on the first floor, arranging furniture, selecting paint colors, and positioning lighting. It soothes my soul and makes me extremely happy, the way this home feels. Someday I will live here.

Have I ever actually been inside it? Nope. Do I know where it is located? Which state, city, county? Nope. I'm not even sure how many bedrooms it has because I haven't finished my redecorating tour of the whole place yet.

I know everyone needs a hobby, but this might be over the top. Imaginary renovations for fictitious homes. Hmmm. I don't know, it sure is fun, but will I ever manifest this fantastic place?

I hope that my imaginary home renovation is raising my vibration in the way Abraham talks about in the quote above. "Visualizing the lifestyle you desire and holding your attention upon those images until you begin to feel..." I tell you, I can feel myself living in this house, cooking in the kitchen, and lounging in the library (wait till you see how amazing the library is!)

So how does the imaginary home renovation project relate to finding purpose in your life? Well, it's visualization, of which there are no rules. I can decorate my house in any way I see fit. When visualizing, you aren't held hostage by the expectations that have been imposed upon you your whole life. Didn't you always feel the expectations of others as you pondered what you wanted to do with your life?

When you're striving to see your purpose in life, quite often, there are rules around what it is you are 'supposed' to be doing. It's almost like you can hear a voice saying, "Do people do that for a living?" Or, "What do you mean you're not going to be a tax accountant, or (fill in the blank) like your father?"

What if you took some time to visualize what you'd like your purpose, your calling, to look like without any rules. And when you create it in your mind, without the beliefs from your past telling you that you can't do this or that, you begin to feel into what you want to create.

The key here is the word FEEL. How do you want your purpose to make you feel? If your imaginary life purpose makes you feel warm and playful, I'm pretty sure it isn't as a tax accountant. Unless, of course, your clients are the Muppets. Hey, you never know, it could be a thing.

What does success feel like to you? When you live your life on purpose, sharing your passion with the world, how do you imagine that make you feel? I suspect it will be a feeling of connectedness that is comforting and inviting, much like my home with the oval glass window in the front door. I hope you'll stop by for a glass of tea on the porch!

Here's to visualizing a life full of purpose as you share your passion with others and live your dream.
