”Expect the best, Prepare for the worst, Take what God sends you.” ~ Unknown

This week I have been partaking in a Visioning process to fine-tune the future I envision for myself. I love this stuff! I am addicted to self-discovery and anything related to finding your purpose in life.

Finding answers to the questions surrounding me is a hobby, much like garage sales are for some people. You just can't wait for the ads to roll around that announce this weekend's junkpalooza in your neighborhood. You drool over what treasures you might find.

Yep, I drool over digging deep and getting to the root of the problem. Then I get all creative on its ass and come up with an amazeballs soul-lu-tion. (Soul-lu-tion: a solution from the soul.)

So in this Visioning process, they talked a lot about surrendering to what is. That is easier said than done for me. The last time I completely surrendered to a challenging situation, my son attempted suicide. You can imagine my trepidation in following that advice again. My son is doing well 3 years later, but it was a long, hard-fought, expensive battle to get to this spot.

So I am getting ready for my day this morning. Contemplating surrendering to what is, and run into the following experiences.

  1. I reach into the tiny bathroom closet to get more Q-tips and manage to knock over several items that tumble off the shelves. This happens EVERY time I reach into this closet for anything.

  2. I plug in the blow dryer over my pedestal sink. The sink has zero counter space to put anything, and the cord from the blow dryer knocks over my bottle of face cleanser again. It's like a nightmare scene from Groundhogs day with Bill Murray.

  3. I try to chop some veggies on my cutting board that doesn't fit onto my kitchen counter because I have a new Air Fryer (love love love this appliance) that takes up what little space I have.

So what needs surrendering here? My home. I am in the process of looking for a wonderful, secure, traditional J.O.B, but it seems like I will need to move somewhere other than St. Louis to find it. I love my little, cozy house and hate the thought of having to leave it. However, it feels like the house is showing me that it's time to let go.

My friend Robin put this idea into my head. She, too, has an amazing place in northern Illinois that is sending her all kinds of mechanical and electrical messages. She said she is waiting to hear what her home is transforming into and where it is leading her.

Surrendering to what is. Not easy.

I love my gas fireplace that puts any campfire to shame. I love my cozy dining table that has become my office and junk catch-all. My backyard and side patio with the fun little patio lights warms my heart every time I see it. The window seat I had built to lounge on that is if the dog would move over. I've been here 15 years, raised my son here, had friends and family over for wine and fire on the patio. So hard to let go.

Surrendering to what is. I will do this with the intention that where I am lead will take me to a place where I can freely use my gifts and talents to raise the world's vibration. Otherwise, all bets are off. Stay-tuned.

I am passionate about helping women find the courage to take steps forward in their next chapter, but often we don't know what our next chapter is.
